Chemtrails is Nothing but Internet Grift

And why am I so hard on Taos’s favorite conspiracy theory, chemtrails? It’s just the sheer stupidity of it and the obvious grift of the geoengineering watch dot org website that is the main promoter of it. I’ve often said that the path to debunking it are many and varied. Here is one, the technical aspect and it will focus on the many failings of Mr. Wigington and his website to make his case. The first thing you see on his website is the Paypal donate button. The grift is obvious. To make his case, he mainly has a list of long expired patents and one test where he flies to the upper atmosphere where planes fly and takes a sample of the air and has it analyzed. He finds all kind of substances in it. It sounds good if you don’t know how testing and sampling work but if you do, his methodology is completely flawed. One, all he got was a random sample of the upper atmosphere and there’s no way to connect what he found to the contrails in the atmosphere. All kinds of chemicals work their way from the ground into the upper atmosphere and once there they can travel vast distances. The substances found could as easily come from a smokestack in Siberia as from an airplane. The way to find out what a contrail is made of is to do a spectral analysis of a contrail. Spectral analysis the way we find out what the atmosphere of other planets are made of. When light passes through a chemical it filters some frequencies and passes others and every chemical has a spectral signature. It’s both cheaper and more accurate than taking samples of the upper atmosphere. And no matter what the method, you never just do just one test and claim definitive results, you always repeat it multiple time to account for false positives and sample and lab errors.

And for the patents, they are some kind of joke. There’s a big difference between conceiving of something and carrying it out. If I do a reverse engineering of what Wigington describes in his website and start making a list of what would be required to implement a chemtrails program, it quickly becomes a reductio ad absurdum. It would require engineers to design the spraying systems, manufacturers to make them and install them in airplanes, technicians to clean and maintain them, ground crews to put the chemicals in the planes and on and on. All of this would create an extensive paper trail and somehow, none of it has ever been leaked and Wigington provides none of it. The last time I looked at his website, he had a photoshopped image of some pipes sticking out of an airplane wing. At that point, I just wrote him off as a jackass who didn’t know what he was talking about. He obviously doesn’t know that the way to turn a liquid into an aerosol is to put it through a narrow aperture under pressure just like it’s done in an airbrush or spray bottle. If a liquid was passed through his photoshopped sprayers, the plane would pee chemicals, not spray them. It’s also not a good idea to use the wings of an airplane to do this either. The real world examples of planes dumping chemicals like the ones used to fight forest fires always do it from the rear of the fuselage. That’s for a good reason, it’s simple and safer.

I’ve just touched on a few of the technical flaws of Wigingtons website. Pilots and people who know something about aviation would find a lot more. And all of them lead to another path to debunking his bullshit, the money trail. All of the engineers, technicians, pilots and ground crews involved in the chemtrails program would have to be paid. There would be contracts and purchase orders galore. He has yet to provide one financial document directly related to his purported secret chemtrails program. And this is the US federal government that’s supposed to be doing this. The paper trail would be extensive and ultimately lead to some congressional appropriations. Mr Wigington and his website have found no evidence for this. Instead, it reads something like a religious tract where he speaks with an authoritative voice and wants you to accept the truth of what he says on blind faith alone. Well, Mr. Wigington, faith is for god, the real world requires real facts and real evidence, not photoshopped images and expired patents.

And I final word on why I’m so belligerently critical of the chemtrails conspiracy theory. As pseudo religious beliefs go, it’s depressing and every time a plane leaves a contrail, it’s believers get angry and depressed. Nothing like ruining a beautiful day with a load of crap put out by an internet grifter.

    The white trail behind airplanes is called a contrail, short for “condensation trail.” Contrails are formed from the water vapor in the exhaust of aircraft engines. Here’s a brief explanation of how they form:
    1. **Exhaust Emission**: Jet engines burn fuel, producing water vapor as a byproduct.
    2. **Condensation**: At high altitudes, the air is extremely cold and the pressure is low. When the hot exhaust gases from the aircraft mix with the cold ambient air, the water vapor condenses into tiny water droplets or ice crystals.
    3. **Visibility**: These condensed water droplets or ice crystals form a visible cloud-like trail. Depending on the surrounding atmospheric conditions, contrails can last for a few seconds or persist for hours, sometimes spreading out to form cirrus-like clouds.

    Some thoughts for the conspiracists on this page:
    Before you comment, spend some time looking up the science of contrails, learn to fly a plane, watch the aircraft you’re flying create contrails at altitude and then look for a chemical tank!, then talk to pilots and realise that what you’re seeing is merely condensation. See how the pilots respond when you start talking about chemtrails, they’ll laugh…
    Oh it’s in the fuel the engines burn they desperately reply. Elements of Aluminium and Barium.
    Nice try. Solid Aluminum melts around 650 degrees Centigrade and Barium 100 degrees highe, powdered less. Now inject that into a turbine burning at 1500 degrees Centigrade and can you see the issue? 
    Then ask yourself some very basic questions.
    1 – ‘IF’ the govts of the world are spraying the population with poisons why would they do it to themselves and their own families?
    2 – Why, out of the hundreds of thousands of people who work in the aviation industry has nobody come forward to express concern – Because if it were true there would be hundreds of thousands of people exposing it?
    You’ll be lucky if you find one but then anyone can find one lunatic to say say sonething to be controversial.
    3 – Why wouldn’t they just put chemicals in the water supply using one guy with a van and save billions of dollars?
    4 – Where are the tanks of chemicals in these aircraft that nobody has ever seen?
    5 – Why would ‘they’ do it..?
    …and most importantly, you talk about ‘questioning everything’ when you havent, you havent questioned your YouTube sources at all, you’ve straight out just believed them!
    You call everyone who doesn’t agree as government drones, not able to see “the truth, or think for ourselves or we are all sheep.
    Yet ironically it is you that are blinkered sheep, unable to think for yourselves. Clicking the click bait “experts” that you follow and making them rich. Believing everything you selectively want to believe and ignoring anything out before you because your blinkers are on and you fingers firmly in your ears while you scream “but I’m right!”
    You actually have the closed mind here because you’re not willing to learn the science behind contrails…
    You know what, there is something bigger going on here that we don’t know about! Why else would all of these physicists, engineers, rocket scientists etc be hiding in plain sight working jobs at Aldi, Bingo halls, Taxi drivers and other manual jobs?!
    All of these experts out there doing these menial jobs must be planted there, otherwise why would they waste their degrees doing jobs like that? Clearly something going on, and the sooner we get to the bottom of it the better! Keep an eye on them all when you see them on posts like this, it doesn’t matter if they are sharing those damaged campervan posts and botched covid jab stories, don’t let that fool you into thinking they are idiots, they clearly know more than they let on!

    For those who believe in chemtrails, I’ve done some calculations for you. I’ll keep sharing this information until it either makes sense to you, or you provide counter-calculations or point out where I’m wrong.
    Let’s take a two-engine jet aircraft like the 737 as an example.
    The 737 has a cargo capacity of about 27 tonnes, but let’s round that up to 30 tonnes for simplicity.
    Now, a contrail from an engine is approximately 5 meters high and 5 meters wide.
    The cruising speed of a 737 is roughly 800 km/h, meaning in one minute, the aircraft would cover around 13 km.
    So, in one minute, the plane creates a contrail that’s 13 km long.
    Let’s calculate the volume of the contrail. Even if we underestimate it, say the contrail is just 2 meters by 2 meters over that 13 km, the volume would still be:
    2m x 2m x 13,000m = 52,000 cubic meters.
    Now, consider the cargo capacity of the 737, which we set at 30 tonnes. The volume of the contrail, however, is 52,000 cubic meters.
    Let’s now look at the weight of aluminum oxide, which is often mentioned in chemtrail theories. Aluminum oxide has a density of about 3,950 kg per cubic meter, and it’s not soluble in water—so it would have to be dispersed as a powder filling that volume.
    If we were to spread aluminum oxide powder to fill just one kilometer of that contrail, the weight would be around 205,400 metric tonnes. That’s just for a single kilometer!
    Now, let’s be more generous and use a lower bulk density for aluminum oxide, around 500 kg per cubic meter, which would look more like a contrail. For one minute of flying, that would still result in 26,000 metric tonnes of material, costing about 13.8 million USD per kilometer.
    Clearly, these numbers are impossible.
    Barium and strontium, which are also mentioned in chemtrail discussions, have similar weights to aluminum oxide.
    If the claim is that these metals are mixed into the fuel, this also doesn’t hold up. The combustion temperatures inside a jet engine are far higher than the melting or vaporization points of these metals. Plus, as noted earlier, these metals aren’t soluble in fuel.
    Simple math, physics, and chemistry show that spraying chemicals or metals like those described in chemtrail theories is practically impossible.
    Additionally, all “chemtrails” appear to have the same luminosity and color. If metals like strontium or barium were involved, you’d see different colors due to their unique reflective properties. For example, strontium burns red (it’s used in fireworks for this effect), and barium has a greenish hue I believe.
    Do feel free to refute the above if you think you have counter figures, data or hard evidence.

      This is good material. I found some of the same on Facebook after I read it and I’m writing another article that goes deeper into the spectra and other optical properties a “chemtrail” would have in the real world. When they say that the only difference they can see between a contrail and “chemtrail” is how long it is, they are saying that they are the same thing, basically.

      Also, Barium and strontium specifically react with water and heat to produce hydrogen gas, clearly you cannot have hydrogen gas anywhere near a jet aircraft, and nanoparticles of aluminium combust above 600°c, a vastly lower temperature than the exhaust heat of a jet engine 🤘👍

    Ok, so I corrected the name of Mr. Wigington in the article and just googling the name gave me some further confirmation of the grift. He has a book on Amazon selling for $381.63 paperback. It’s nothing but a compilation of what he’s got on his website. I also saw a bit of his social media profile on X where he’s on the Alex Jones Show, how surprising. I just saw an article about Infowars being bought by the Onion and the thought occurred to me that Wigington is the Alex Jones of environmental disinformation. He’s obviously making money by spreading this bullshit just like Alex does and now I see he’s actually collaborating with the master. Grift confirmed and reaffirmed.
